About

J. Michael Coffey is an international executive with more than twenty-five years of experience leading operational growth, cultural integration, and strategic transformation across the heavy equipment, mining, and manufacturing sectors. In G.A.L.E. Force: Navigating Strategy, Culture, and Value Creation in Modern M&A, he shares a framework built on real-world execution: aligning global strategy with local intelligence to drive lasting results.

As former CEO of H-E Parts International, Coffey helped transform a small industrial business into a multinational platform, leading its successful sale to Hitachi. He later served as CEO of Manitex International, where he oversaw global expansion, operational turnaround, and M&A integration, culminating in the company’s acquisition by Tadano in 2025. Across these roles, he has led or supported more than thirty-eight acquisitions across four continents.

In G.A.L.E. Force: Navigating Strategy, Culture, and Value Creation in Modern M&A, Coffey draws from these experiences to offer a leadership blueprint that blends global ambition with on-the-ground execution. His approach emphasizes decentralized leadership, cultural fluency, and disciplined integration—especially critical in mid-market and international transactions where standard playbooks often fall short.

Coffey began his career in the field, not the boardroom, and his perspective reflects the hands-on realities of scaling complex, asset-intensive businesses. His leadership style focuses on building operationally grounded teams, aligning strategy with cultural context, and delivering measurable results that endure beyond the transaction.

He holds a B.S. from Nyack College and an MBA from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. Today, he advises global operators and investors on platform strategy, post-merger integration, and executive leadership in multicultural environments.

Coffey lives in Atlanta, Georgia.
